Product description

The Arab Language Academy saw that one of the most important means is to create a dictionary that provides the reader and the educated with the linguistic materials they need, in a clear style, close to the source, easy to handle. It was agreed to name this dictionary "Al-Mu'jam Al-Waseet," and the Academy delegated a committee of its members to prepare this dictionary. This dictionary was prepared after being guided by what the Academy's council and conference approved of modern civil words, or new terms, whether coined or borrowed, in various sciences and arts, or precise scientific definitions of things. For all this, this dictionary was equipped with what was not available to others of means of renewal, and it gathered characteristics and advantages that are not found in others, where much of the barbaric, harsh words, or those abandoned by usage due to lack of need, were neglected. Likewise, some synonyms arising from dialect differences were overlooked, and attention was paid to documenting the living, familiar, and easy words and phrases, especially those that benefit the student.
