The pitfalls of poetry The most common pitfalls among poets Category: Poetry Author: Jassim Al-Musharraf Page 5 ............ The more self-criticism rises, the more the creator becomes strict and less lenient in controlling his creativity. The rising creator is the one who listens to criticism directed at others, as if it were a revealed Quran, and does not place himself in the exempt category, so how about criticism directed at him?! And there is no creative path that the creator can take with confidence unless he has a detection device, and an effective examination represented by (criticism) that protects him from the pitfalls of that path, and sets the rhythm of his movement. Closeness and extreme distance are a veil, and our close proximity to our texts, like our children – we do not undervalue them – blinds us from seeing their flaws, and we may desperately defend them, but reason may lead us to eliminate the excesses that distort them... Let us leave enough distance to see.
