I am not a genius but... !!!? The biography of an author with patience In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful I may have played with my peers from a young age in the dirt and mud, filling them with empty sardine cans and dragging them with a string, then throwing them in another nearby place next to our very humble rural house in our street in the northern neighborhood of (Deerti) in the city of Harim, northern Syria, on the border with Turkey. Our neighbor, a school employee, passed by, so my father, may Allah have mercy on him — who was sitting in front of his humble shop — stopped him and said: "O Abu Khalil, we want to register Hasan in school." As soon as I heard them, I threw everything away and went home crying and in a pitiful state, telling my father, protesting: "I don’t want to go to school, I don’t know how to read and write!!!" At that time, I never imagined anything about my current state, thanks to Allah. I learned to read and write, and other things, الحمد لله, and Allah helped me to author more than 30 books and about sixty published research papers. Glory be to the changer of conditions! This book is an excerpt from the biography of an ordinary person from the common people... from the general public. Not from the elite, nor does it claim any special privacy or distinction from other humans or extraordinary genius. I grew up loving to dive into the sea of knowledge from a young age, when I was in the first grade, and I ranked first in my class without knowing, not realizing that I would swim in this sea until I reached sixty and more, to catch my breath, and to write about this experience of difference with a great deal of detachment. The author of this book wants to tell you, dear reader, that he is not better than you. You too can achieve what he has if you love research and writing, and your trait is patience, trusting in Allah with true reliance. He records his journey in this writing, hoping it may benefit those engaged in research in general. And he now dedicates the following: Oh, how I wish youth would return one day... and tell him what the book did. I drowned in its pages for a long time... and it made me taste a bitter but pleasant fragrance. It took my soul, whether sitting or sleeping... in his corner, a strange scent. That strange contradictory feeling left by the obsession with research and writing, as it exhausts you mentally and physically. Yet at the same time, it grants you a strange pleasure that only those who have suffered its torments know. This book is directed to those seeking this wonderful pleasure.
