Product description

The book focuses on two artistic schools that developed in the third Hijri century, namely: the school of Abu Tammam, who was concerned with deepening meanings, as well as with rhetorical embellishments and exaggerated them. And the school of Al-Buhturi, who followed the footsteps of the early poets, paying attention to the sweetness of expression and the purity of phrasing, and used rhetorical embellishments but without extravagance or affectation. The author omits mentioning the final result and to whom the dominance belonged, but it is clear — from his point of view — that Al-Buhturi was superior, despite mentioning that he would be objective in his presentation and neutral in his stance. However, it is evident — his strong bias and fanaticism for Al-Buhturi, despite his attempt to conceal that. Overall, the book is considered one of the most important works of criticism in that historical period.
