The perfume is a deadly story

The events of the novel begin in the year 1738, where the protagonist, Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, is born in one of the Parisian fish markets. Despite his mother, accustomed to abandoning her illegitimate children, wanting to get rid of the baby by throwing him into a pile of garbage, her plan is foiled when passersby and market visitors notice the child's screams clinging to life. Thus, the baby is saved and his mother is taken for execution. A wet nurse then takes responsibility for Grenouille, but she quickly gives up raising him due to her suspicion and fear of the absence of any scent in the baby's body. One of the monks then takes in the infant Grenouille after the wet nurse relinquishes her care, but he soon distances himself because of the disturbing way Grenouille uses his sense of smell. The infant ends up in the orphanage of Madame Galliard, which houses children for a fee.
