Product description

Emma Bovary, wife of a rural doctor, discovers that the reality of her boring marriage is impossible to accept later, and her imagination is filled with dreams of love and passion, she seeks the excitement she read about in novels in a series of forbidden relationships that, in fact, are unsatisfactory compared to her relationship with her husband. Madame Bovary is a revealing study of human life and an attack on meaningless rules and middle-class societal attitudes, the book took Flaubert five years to write and finally appeared in installments in the Revue de Paris newspaper in 1856, and Flaubert's attention to detail in his strong description of the psychology and actions of ordinary people led many people to consider Madame Bovary as a great work of realism. However, the French government thought differently, and the author was brought to court because of what they called the immoral nature of the book, and Flaubert nearly was sent to prison for writing the novel. Flaubert is considered one of the greatest Western novelists and with this novel laid the first stones of the realist school.
