Erica Young is an American writer and teacher, of Polish origin. She was born in 1942 to a Jewish family, with a father who was a businessman born in England to a family of Russian immigrants, and a mother who was a painter and fabric and doll designer. Erica has a sister named Susan, married to a Lebanese businessman named Arthur Dou. Erica has been married four times and has a daughter named Molly Young-Fast from her third marriage. Erica visits Heidelberg in Germany, where she was residing with her second husband in a military barracks, and she frequently visits Venice. The American singer Bob Dylan mentioned her in his song "Highlands." She supported gay rights and the legalization of their marriage, claiming that "gay marriage is a blessing and not a curse, and it promotes stability and family, and it is certainly in the best interest of children." Her most famous work is the novel "Fear of Flying" in 1973, a novel that sparked and continues to spark widespread controversy due to its very frank discussion of women's sexual matters. It has been published in more than thirty editions and sold over 20 million copies. Other works include: "How to Save Your Marriage," "Parachutes and Kisses," "The Devil on the Loose: Erica Young Writes About Henry Miller," and "Fear of Fifty: Midlife Memoirs," among others. Young's literature is characterized by its boldness in sexual matters, sometimes reaching the level of pornography.
