After a week of Kimya's death, Shams al-Din disappeared, and this time forever. There are several theories regarding his disappearance. One tends to generalize because it is more dramatic, suggesting he was killed by the order of Aladdin. But there is nothing to support this story. Sultan Walad, in his poem about his father's biography, dismisses this idea. A group of historians call for Shams al-Din to have returned to Tabriz, while a source mentions that Shams al-Din's death occurred in Khoy while on his way back to Tabriz. There is one certain thing: that on a cold night in December 1248 in Konya, Shams al-Din disappeared and was never seen again. Kimya's death may have been one of the factors that caused Shams al-Din's disappearance, but no matter how much he was affected by her death, it may not have been the reason for his disappearance. What can be said is that Kimya's death was a prominent milestone indicating the end of another relationship, between Shams al-Din and Rumi. Kimya's change occurred; her mission in this world had ended. Similarly, Rumi's change also happened, but his mission was just beginning. And for his mission to be fulfilled, Shams al-Din had to leave, as his remaining was hindering Rumi. In both cases, Shams al-Din's work ended, and his fate flowed into its course.
