The etiquette of the writer is a book written by the literary linguist grammarian famous Ibn Qutaybah al-Dinawari who died in the year 276 AH. It mentioned a set of theoretical and practical manners that every person who takes on writing should be disciplined by, which we can call in our time: the necessary culture for the writer.
The author of the book wanted to make the book a companion for every writer who intends to correct his tongue and hand, and Ibn Khaldun praised Ibn Qutaybah's book in his introduction, saying: "And we heard from our teachers in educational gatherings that the foundations of this art (i.e., language and literature) and its pillars are four anthologies, which are: Etiquette of the Writer by Ibn Qutaybah, and the Complete Book by Al-Muqrib, and the Book of Clarification and Elucidation by Al-Jahiz, and the Book of Nadir by Abu Ali Al-Qali Al-Baghdadi, and anything beyond these four is a supplement and foundation for them."
