The collection "For Peace" contains five long poems characterized by a direct style and revolving around the importance of global peace. Daishaku Ikeda's experiences in believing in peace were formed in his early youth during World War II when one of his brothers was killed, and his other two brothers were taken as prisoners of war for years. The family home was destroyed first, then the second home was destroyed through bombing by warplanes. The poems in the collection emphasize the necessity for each individual to work for peace as a key to happiness. His efforts to raise awareness of the importance of peace for humanity have been recognized globally over the past sixty years.
