Book / Miramar, by the author / Naguib Mahfouz, addresses the story of a small inn in the city of Alexandria where a number of different characters in thought and social background gather, and the events revolve through multiple perspectives narrated by the characters themselves. The fates of everyone intersect around the character of Zahra, the rural girl who represents a symbol of renewal and the future. Mahfouz reflects through this novel the conflict of generations and ideologies, and the divisions that the Egyptian society witnessed in the post July Revolution period. With his unique style, he presents the novel as a critical mirror to a heated and turbulent political and social reality.
