Product description

The Kurds are a people like other peoples, who lived in an Islamic character region, and integrated under Islamic rule with other peoples of the region. After the abolition of the Ottoman Empire and the division of the lands that were under its control, the Kurds lived like other citizens in the countries formed by the Sykes-Picot Agreement. But the emergence of nationalisms that preceded and followed Sykes-Picot made some Kurds try to distinguish themselves from others and revive their language and culture, and some sought to establish a Kurdish homeland of their own, while others remained loyal to their homelands, especially in countries where they did not feel a deprivation of their rights or an insult to their dignity. In this book, the author and historian Prof. Dr. Muhammad Suhail Taqoush clarifies the origin of the Kurds, and their history from the Islamic conquest to early 2015. He documented their revolutions, translated their figures, and in separate chapters discussed the Kurds in Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, and the attempts of their leaders, in some periods of history, to establish independent emirates, and mentioned their movements and relations with other nationalities, up to the date of this book's publication.
