Product description

It is a magazine issued by Jamal al-Din al-Afghani in cooperation with his student Muhammad Abduh in Paris in 1884. "Al-Urwa al-Wuthqa" was a weekly magazine, only 18 issues were published, and it stopped publishing after about eight months due to obstacles faced from the colonial authorities. Its goal: The magazine was a literary and political platform aimed at spreading awareness in the Islamic world, and resisting Western colonization, especially British. Its content: The articles focused on calling for Islamic unity, rejecting sectarian differences, and returning to the essence of religion as a driving force for revival and progress. It also attacked political tyranny in the Islamic world and criticized rulers cooperating with colonizers. Its impact: Despite its short lifespan, its influence was immense, as its issues secretly reached many Islamic countries, especially Egypt and India, which angered the British authorities who quickly banned it and confiscated its issues. Its transformation into a book: Due to the great importance of the magazine and its articles, all its issues were later collected in a single volume called "Al-Urwa al-Wuthqa," which made it known to many as a "book" instead of a "magazine."
