Critics of Islamic movements are faced with the accusation of anti-Islam. And the source of the accusation is the Islamic movements themselves, which are keen to be an official tongue for Islam, thus imposing their view of Islam through the standards of how Islam should be viewed! And the truth is that not every critic of these movements has an adversarial or negative stance towards Islam. There are many who sincerely defend Islam—scientifically and morally—and openly oppose and criticize the Islamists, and among them are those who go so far as to consider that Islamic partisanship has a negative effect on Islam and its image... etc. In our Arab societies, the majority are Muslim and faithful, believing in the message, adopting its teachings, and not sharing the views and stances of the Islamic currents. And those who oppose these ideas are not among the stubborn disbelievers and deniers, but are individuals with opinions, like the Islamists. And whoever claims otherwise is seeking for himself what even those who succeeded the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not seek—rule over the Muslim community! Then, are these ideas one? Or rather: has the Islamic trend succeeded in building a single opinion by which all Islamists agree, so that they can demand others to do the same? We know that Islamists are divided into different groups, sects, and schools, and we do not consider this diversity and difference as evidence of weakness and disintegration, but rather as proof of the absence of the (illusory) intellectual unity, without which the matter of harmony between Islamists and Islam cannot be established!
