Product description
The study of the metaphorical image in the Diwan of Al-Muayyid fi al-Din Da'wa al-Du'aat al-Shirazi has importance in the history of Arabic literature, as the poet made most of his poems in one poetic purpose, which is "praise," and did not address other artistic purposes extensively, but filled all his poems with praise for the Fatimid Imams, their religious terms, and their doctrinal interpretations. This is mostly evident through various metaphorical images that highlight the virtues of the Imams, the foundations of Ismaili doctrine, its intellectual principles, and its philosophical roots. What increases the importance of this Diwan is that the poet relies in his poetry on a religious, theological, philosophical, and doctrinal heritage, as a result of his intellectual, sectarian, and political stance as a Da'i Da'wa seeking to attain the highest political and religious positions in the Fatimid state.
