The best way to my knowledge is Al-Khalil's prosody and rhyme.

On the noble Arabic sciences, my scientific (al-‘arood and al-qafiyah) which deal with Arabic poetry by measuring its meter and verifying its rhyme, by confirming what the Arabs have confirmed for them and denying what they have denied about them. And these two sciences have their danger and their great status, due to the precision of their issues and the many similarities in them, until their contradiction occurred in a time close to the days of true Arabism, so they resemble grammar in the accuracy of its considerations and the ease of corruption's escape on the faculty in it.
