Product description

Hamid bin Thawr Al-Hilali, one of the seasoned poets, lived until he reached Al-Walid bin Abdul Malik, and he was among the most eloquent poets. He was distinguished by his wonderful descriptions and love poetry, and his poetry contained many strange words, to the point that he became one of the poets of the strange language. He had a diwan compiled by a number of scholars, from which authors benefited and transmitted from him. It was lost, and his news ceased after the 11th century AH. So this diwan was compiled and verified by Dr. Mohammed Shafiq Al-Bitar, to present in its first section a study of the life of this poet, his upbringing, his tribe, and his connections with the caliphs of his era, as well as the topics of his various poetry—descriptions, love poetry, praise, satire, pride, elegy, wisdom, complaints about old age and long life, even lamenting his weak eyesight and hearing. It also includes a study of the meanings contained in Hamid’s poetry, whether new or traditional, and a comparison between him and poets of his era. As for the second section, it includes the poet’s poetry, collected from various sources, including printed and manuscript.
