Product description
The book explores the history of the Zengids in Mosul and the Levant. Most modern studies on the Zengids have focused on two important figures: Imad al-Din Zengi, who established the Zengid state in Mosul and raised the banner of Jihad against the Crusaders, and Nur al-Din Zengi, who unified the Levant under his banner.
The Zengids ruled during an important phase of Islamic history, marked by conflicts between the Abbasids in Baghdad and the Fatimids in Cairo. Their characteristic was the struggle between princes and the exchange of influence in the Levant.
The author divided his research into two parts: the first dealt with the emergence of the Zengid state and its history in Mosul, while the second part focused on the history of the Zengids in Damascus and the Levant, and Nur al-Din’s efforts to unify Muslims and his Jihad against the Crusaders.
