Product description
It is well known that the book of the French philosopher René Descartes (Discourse on Method) is one of the pillars of modern Western philosophy and has exerted an unparalleled influence on global philosophical thought. The Dar Al-Rafidain found nothing better than the seasoned translation undertaken by Professor Mahmoud Mohamed Al-Khudairi, may God have mercy on him, who was bold, adventurous, and incredibly creative in transferring this philosophical text into the Arabic language with skill, integrity, and an unmatched love for wisdom and philosophical expression. This translation was published in Egypt in 1930 and was well received at the time by the philosophy audience in the Arab countries without dispute. It was repeatedly reprinted, notably in 1968, with verification and review by Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Helmy, then again in 2003. Another new Arabic translation of the text appeared under the title (حديث الطريقة) (The Way of Talk) with translation, commentary, and explanation by Dr. Omar Al-Sharni in 2008. Due to the importance of René Descartes' philosophy as a philosopher on one hand, and the solidity of Al-Khudairi’s pioneering translation of this ancient philosophical text on the other, we present to the Arab reader this precious philosophical journey.
