The standard Arab biography of Sheikh Al-Rais Abi Ali ibn Sina came to light, and the one who completed it was Abu Ubaid Al-Juzjani, one of Sheikh Al-Rais's students, in 1884 AD, with the publication of the book "Uyoon Al-Anbaa fi Tabaqat Al-Atibba" by Ibn Abi Asiba, edited by August Müller. The book contains a chapter about Ibn Sina, consisting of a brief introduction and Ibn Sina's biography, then what Al-Juzjani completed of it, including a short index of his works. After that, there are anecdotes, stories, and poems about Ibn Sina, then a collection of poems attributed to Ibn Sina, and another detailed index of his works. A different biography of Ibn Sina appeared a few years later (in 1903 AD) in the book "Tareekh Al-Hukama" or "Ikhbar Al-Ulama bi Akhbar Al-Hukama" by Ibn Al-Qifti, edited by Julius Lieber. It included a brief introduction, similar to that in Ibn Abi Asiba's book, then his biography, followed by what Al-Juzjani completed of it, with a brief short index.
Another main source of Ibn Sina's biography is a chapter in the book "Tammet Sawan Al-Hikmah" by Ibn Fandak Al-Bayhaqi, which contains a great deal of information, facts, and new comments. Additionally, other manuscripts that appeared recently revealed the existence of another biography of Ibn Sina, in texts that are almost identical, found scattered in different places. These texts agreed with the previous account in essence and main issues, with slight differences between them. It seems that the stories of Ibn Sina's biography in Al-Qifti and Ibn Abi Asiba are like sayings about the original manuscript dictated by Ibn Sina to his student Al-Juzjani, then completed by the student.
