Knights of Divine Love

We are in urgent need now to know that the history of Muslims is rich with Sufi personalities who are knowledgeable, ascetic, devout, much greater than the closed-off memorisers who focus on appearance not substance, on outward not inward, and who employ religion in the matter of the struggle for power and wealth... This book puts the merchants of religion in their true size; its lines overflow with eternal divine love whose light does not fade, whose giving never ends, whose delights and tastes never dry up, and whose states and conditions do not weaken. It is the love tasted by those who have turned away from the fleeting benefits of the worldly life, and who have released their spirits to seek the love that only gentle hearts, good souls, fiery minds, and enlightened insights can receive... Here are lines shaped by sayings, actions, stillnesses, movements, whispers, shouts, thoughts, expressions, and plans, forming an important part of Islamic civilization. They are pen images and biographies of the symbols of Sufism, who formed a broad battalion of knights of love, tolerance, asceticism, divine authority, and divine knowledge... O you who seek guidance on the paths of the wayfarers, come and see a glimpse of the journeys of those who have approached uncovering the endless secrets of the universe.
