Product description
No one disagrees that the linguistic thought of Noam Chomsky has marked our era with its character in form and content, as Chomskyan linguistics was distinguished by relentless critical debate, and it emerged and developed as a reaction to previous American linguistics represented by Bloomfieldian linguistics and his student Skinner, the behaviorist, saturated with the behavioral approach in description and interpretation. However, for Chomsky, criticism has two directions: the first is external criticism related to the intense debate against linguistic schools that differ with his linguistic thought in describing and interpreting language, such as functionalism in its various forms, and behaviorism in any form; the second is internal criticism related to his own linguistic thought, which is a main reason for the development of Chomskyan linguistics and its presentation of more than one model for describing and interpreting language.
