We decided to divide our research into two books, as during the progress of this research we noticed the very clear effect of two movements that can be distinguished explicitly thanks to psychoanalysis: openness and introversion, so that imagination in the first book appears more as open, and in the second as introverted. And in the first book, we will especially pursue active daydreams that call us to action in matter. In the second, daydreams will flow along a more familiar downward slope, following this retreat that leads us to the first refuges which highlight the importance of all images of intimacy. And in general, we will have a duality of work and rest. But as soon as we made a very definite distinction, we had to remember that daydreams of introversion and daydreams of openness are rarely completely separate from each other. Finally, all images are formed between the two poles, and they live dialectically from the temptations of the universe and the certainties of intimacy. We do an artificial work if we do not give images their dual movement of openness and introversion, and if we do not highlight their duality. Every image, regardless of the part in which the study is, must receive full recognition of its values. The most beautiful images are those that are often the focal point of duality.
