Among the courtyards of Mecca Al-Mukarramah, the city of history and faith, stands the Joroul neighborhood proudly, witnessing to past eras and a living memory pulsating with stories. This book opens its doors to a journey through time, diving into the depths of the ancient Joroul neighborhood, exploring its treasures of photos, memories, and narratives. Our journey begins from the Riya’ Al-Rassam alley, passing through Al-Qubba, Jabal Al-Kaaba, and Riya’ Atq, heading towards Bir Tua, Duhlat Harb, then wandering through the Moroccan section, Jabal Jahiisha, reaching the Black Mountain, Riya’ Abu Lahab, and then to the Baban neighborhood, Al-Qasala, and Al-Taysir, as well as the Sada neighborhood and Al-Tandibawi. In each alley, we review its locations, houses, and prominent old landmarks... and unveil its historical features, including schools, government offices, and markets. We listen to the stories of its people and their memories... This is the fruit of the efforts of a distinguished group of Joroul neighborhood residents, making this book a record filled with the neighborhood’s memory and treasures.
