It is recommended to change 50% of the water every 3 days during the initial weeks to stabilize the nitrogen cycle, followed by weekly changes of 1/3 to 1/5 of the volume

Calculating Required Soil Quantity

To quickly and easily calculate the amount needed for your tank, use the following formula:

Length (cm) × Width (cm) × Desired Soil Height (cm) ÷ 1000 = Volume in Liters

Example:

Tank measuring 60 × 30 cm, with a desired soil depth of 6 cm:

60 × 30 × 6 ÷ 1000 = 10.8 liters

This means you need approximately one bag (3 L) + 9 L bag = 12 liters — you will use approximately 10.8 L, covering the bottom with a layer 6 cm deep.
