When Ibn Al-Haytham established the invention of glasses, did he know that they would pass through forms and phases? And accompany us to dreams, and roam with us sailors?

Did he know that they would become many personalities, just like us, differing in outward things, agreeing in higher things?

Maybe yes, maybe not...but he sure knew it was a tiny crystal, that would give us a clearer view of life.
