Abdullah Al-Faisal
Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal is one of the most important knights of Arabic poetry in the era of Romanticism, as his poems are characterized by features of the Romantic school with their passionate emotion, high emotional and human touches. He called himself the poet of deprivation due to his collection (The Revelation of Deprivation), and his philosophy in naming himself, as he was quoted: "Yes, I am deprived! Deprivation is synonymous with misery, or its beginning, or a proof of it. Misery is the opposite of happiness. And what is happiness? In what is it? Is it in status and prestige? Or in authority and ministerial positions? Or in youth and beauty? Or in wealth and money? If so, then I am happy, every happiness. But you are deprived of happiness if you lose the feeling of it, even if all its complements and considerations are gathered for you. Why? Because your feeling is influenced by other factors such as pain and sorrow, which distract you and prevent you from feeling happiness. And for this reason alone, I am deprived."
May God have mercy on the poet prince and make him happy in his other abode.
