Rwanda - Nyarugenge

Gisheke Coffee Washing Station (CWS) is Rwanda's hidden gem. When Gisheke was purchased in September 2017, it was very dilapidated and in poor condition. Between February and April 2018, it underwent a major renovation to become what it is today - an amazing and truly poetic station for processing the best types of specialty coffee. What makes Gisheke site very special is that it is located between two steep slopes directly pointing towards Lake Kivu, and the beautiful Idjwi Island, and also our neighbors to the west, the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Idjwi Island is the second largest inland island in Africa. This setting makes the wind flow across the station ideal for processing and drying high-quality natural coffee.
