Named Pompeii after Mount Pompeii in the Sidamo region in southern Ethiopia where it is believed to be the birthplace of coffee, according to the popular legend that a shepherd named Kaldi noticed that his herd suddenly became active after eating strange red cherry beans, and it turned out that the secret was in the coffee.
