Invention of the past: a history of 50,000 years of human civilization, conflicts, and relationships

Author: Tamim Ansari Publication date: 2026 Book classification: History Publisher: Bayt Al-Kutub Format: Paperback Book summary: A bold intellectual journey that redefines history. In this work, Tamim Ansari reveals how history is not a static record of events, but a symbolic construction made by humans to give them meaning and identity. From primitive hunting groups to digital civilizations, the book narrates how stories turned into cultures, and how the clash of narratives produced wars, just as thought, religion, and art flourished. This book does not only tell what happened but also illuminates how and why "we chose to tell it this way." The invention of the past is a deep reflection on the essence of humans: beings who do not just live through events but shape them into a narrative that gives them a place in the world. Ansari offers an astonishing synthesis, based on geography without falling into the trap.
