Summary:
There is no doubt that the path of righteousness is one of the noble human goals that the Islamic message seeks to achieve. It is for a person to possess a noble character and correct conduct befitting human dignity, and in harmony with what he was created for as a vicegerent on earth. This is the goal that philosophers, scholars, and reformers have tried to attain over centuries, but they did not reach what they wanted or achieve this hoped-for aspiration.
The highest ideals for individuals are honor, integrity, rising above desires and passions, knowing the truth and duty, holding onto virtue, and immersing oneself in a pure spiritual atmosphere far from material flaws and spiritual impurities. As for the higher ideals of the community, they manifest in cooperation, altruism, sacrifice, self-denial, love, affection, honesty, sincerity, trustworthiness, loyalty, forgiveness, and a peaceful heart.
Embodying the ideal in both aspects results in a good life and achieves glory, sovereignty, leadership, and empowerment on earth. All of this stems from full response to the guiding Qur'anic call, which leads individuals and groups to the virtuous ideal in Islam. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "I was sent only to perfect noble morals," narrated by Ahmad and Al-Hakim.
The chosen Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم acquired his morals and noble qualities from the Qur'anic call to them and to embody them; until his character was the Qur'an itself. His Lord, سبحانه, praised him by saying: "And indeed, you are of a great moral character" (Qalam: 4).
