The motivation: Author: David Lewis Language: Arabic Publication date: 2017 Book format: Paperback Publisher: Jarir Bookstore Number of pages: 363 Book classification: Self-development Description: When I was writing these words, in front of me was this sculpture that matches my features and was made by pouring a blue resinous substance on my head and shoulders while I was breathing through two tubes placed in my nostrils, so that the head of this sculpture watched me across the room. And from time to time, the eyes — which took on the color of my own eyes — blinked, while the mouth opened and closed. This is perfection itself except for one realistic difference, for while I was aging, my other head, made more than ten years ago, still looks young; which puts me in a situation similar to Dorian Gray, the hero of one of Oscar Wilde's famous stories. And that head still retains its hair, each strand of which I carefully placed by hand, while my hair is falling out quickly. Its forehead was smooth, while mine was lined with wrinkles, and there is another more important difference, which is that the top of the sculpture's head, perfectly matching mine, could be lifted to reveal the brain, and I often told people that I had basically made it; to serve as a tool to attract attention during lectures while teaching neuropsychology. At least, that was the explanation I usually gave when someone asked why I wasted so much time and spent so much of the hard-earned money to get such a strange thing among everything on Earth. And in truth, this was an actual justification for my impulsive and foolish purchase. The purchase for which I can invent excuses — as is the case with most impulsive behaviors — just by saying it seemed like a good idea at the time! And while the impulse that led me to acquire another head was one of my most expensive impulses, it was nonetheless one of the impulses that most contributed to changing my life. Among these impulses, so far, there have been three; two completely changed my life, while the third, which I will mention in the first chapter, saved my life.
