Dictionary of Literary Criticism

Product description

This dictionary aims to identify terms that literature students might encounter in critical works or that learners might face in text analysis. Some belong to the vocabulary of linguistics and rhetoric, others to literary criticism, and still others to literary history. Therefore, this dictionary is an eclectic work, serving both a historical and a formal purpose. We have tried to avoid any logical language or value judgment, refraining from commenting on the validity of the concepts presented. We have proposed 434 sections. Within each section, there are words in bold italics whose definitions would have been redundant if the term had already been covered in a specific entry. We have indexed the list of these terms and the section that analyzes them. In total, we have covered more than 700 terms. Each section is organized as follows: a definition with examples, followed by a list of terms that may also be useful for reference, and a list of books that can be consulted on the subject. The books were very general in nature, and we referred to them by their authors' names.
