Democratic Civil Islam

The Rand Corporation is considered the most important American strategic studies center ever, and some consider it "the American strategic mind," and it is the semi-official research arm of the American administration and the Pentagon in particular. In the context of American efforts to redraw the political and economic map of the Islamic world after September 11, 2001; this report/book was issued. The study attempts to identify the features of the strategy that the American administration must adopt in order to "rebuild Islam"; in order to integrate it into the Western democratic system. It is a strategy primarily based on cutting off resources to fundamentalists, and supporting and financing modernists and secularists. This study is mainly directed at the American decision-maker; to complete the cognitive dimension of American policies in confronting "Islamic extremism," and should be read in this context. And note that the term used is not absolute, but it expresses a biased view by nature of a knowledge-based imperialism; seeking to shape the "other" Muslim according to its own perceptions, which ascribes to it an absolute cognitive and human legitimacy.
