Among the writings in the history of ancient philosophy, specialized works study the conception of Heraclitus' metaphysics of the world. This thinker, who attracted attention in ancient times, continued afterward to occupy minds. Due to the limited and fragmented sources and the lack of reliable data, a complete and detailed analysis of Heraclitus' ideas faces insurmountable obstacles. The author presented to the reader, without claiming to encompass the Heraclitean issue, a more modest task, which is to seek to clarify the general principles, the spirit, and the tendencies of Heraclitus' views, whose influence was very prominent in the development of philosophical thought in the following centuries.
