Product description
It includes all the birds that humanity knew until the time of Farid al-Din al-Attar. The book narrates to us at the beginning how these birds gather one day, and decide to search for a bird they can make their king, and the sought-after bird is that legendary bird which Persian literature has celebrated since the beginnings of that literature: the Simurgh, which is equivalent to the phoenix in Arab legends. And the birds decide to undertake the journey that will lead them to the Simurgh, and the guide that the birds deliberately choose to lead them on the journey is the hoopoe, "who was the one who guided Solomon the Wise to the Queen of Sheba, and whom God Almighty caused to speak when he said to Solomon: I have encompassed what you have not encompassed, and I have come to you from Saba with certain news." However, the hoopoe is not the only bird that speaks in "The Conference of the Birds," because all the birds speak (and hence the title of the book, although some translate it as "The Meeting of the Birds," considering that the word "manṭiq" comes from "nṭaq," not from "nṭiq," and the matter is open to interpretation and debate in any case).
