I say that the search for God was not with reason but with feeling; because this search did not originate from the chain of thoughts in me, but rather flowed from the heart, and it was a feeling of fear, orphanhood, and isolation in a strange land, and hope for help from some side. The study of the lives of great people is the best lesson that benefits its owner with abundant benefits, especially if the life of the great one is written by his own pen. And in the opinion of the knowledgeable, the best of what Tolstoy, the famous Russian philosopher, wrote in his life story and philosophy of life in general are the chapters he called "Confession, My Religion, My Gospel." And I saw fit to translate them into Arabic, wishing for my people to be aware of the beautiful truths and beneficial lessons contained within, starting with the first book which I named "Tolstoy's Confession," hoping that writers will read it with the attention it deserves. Tolstoy wrote this confession in 1879, but the authorities did not allow its printing in Russia, so it was printed in Geneva, Switzerland, and the same applies to the second and third books. These books have been translated into all living languages, and after we translated the first part, "Tolstoy's Confession," today we are working on translating the other two parts, which are "Tolstoy's Religion" or "Tolstoy's Gospel."
