Product description
Beginning from the late 19th century until our present time, passing through Arab cities including Homs, Nazareth, and Cairo houses. They experienced significant historical events during Ottoman rule and its collapse in the early 20th century, the loss of Palestine in 1948, the Suez Canal War in 1956, then the Lebanese Civil War in the 1970s, and so on. We follow the history of three generations of women: the grandmother Munira Musa Badr, who was born in Homs and later moved to Beirut and Cairo; her daughter Hilda Musa Saeed, who was born in Nazareth and lived in Beirut and Cairo; and the author of the book, Jane Saeed Al-Maqdisi, who was born in Jerusalem and lived between Cairo, the United States, and Beirut, where she has settled since the 1970s. The memoirs occupy their place at the intersection of literary studies with historical studies, represented by the convergence of memoirs with life stories and oral history, sometimes touching on political and social sciences in presenting political events from a social and personal perspective that approaches ethnography and self-identity.
