Product description
This novel is the final part of the trilogy by novelist Kamal Rahim about the Jews of Egypt, which began with the novel "The Muslim Jew" and then "Days of Dispersion." As in the author's previous two parts, he paused at difficult moments faced by the protagonist (Jalal), moments of time filled with conflicting emotions and struggles with what is inhumane in this life. A work rich in aesthetic formations, flowing without noise or disturbance.----------------------------------------------When Jalal, the hero of this novel, entered his old family apartment in the Zahir neighborhood, the elements of his hybrid identity, both Jewish and Islamic, collapsed. Gradually, the Jewish identity diminished with the disappearance of its original pillars: the grandfather and grandmother, and with the narrator's reference to the fading image of (Abu Hisira), which was hanging inside the grandfather's wardrobe. The events unfold, some of which call him back to his Jewish identity, but he remained attached to his Egyptian identity. Dr. Tamer Faiz Professor of Modern and Comparative Literature
