Product description
This gathering will be for an Irish family whose members we gather from the diaspora to meet in Dublin, and its members try to form torn pieces of their collective image from their memories of their life's journey, from their secrets they have managed to hide for many long decades from their visions of a world that rejects them for reasons they may have no part in, from their love stained with vice sometimes, and from their hatred whose roots are revealed after years. The events of the novel begin with the Irish heroine suddenly standing in front of her mirror, so she stops continuing the monotony of her personal life, and she goes to meet her family to bring the body of her brother. At this moment — for the first time — she will get to know this brother, whom the family all knew as a thief, drunkard, and repeat offender who came out of prison, and whom her family cut off and rejected until they got used to his absence and almost eradicated him from the family to the extent that they did not know he was residing in England. And this brother died by suicide in the style of Virginia Woolf, filling his pockets with stones and slowly sinking into the river. His sister will recognize him, but not before she questions the entire family's history across three generations, and not before she separates from her fast-paced world and stares at her multiple memories with him to see him. — The novel was awarded the 2007 Booker Prize.
