Product description

The land is the immortal epic of "Abdel Rahman Al-Sharqawi," its heroes residing in all our memories, Mohamed Abu Souilem, Abdul Hadi, Waseefa, and Mohamed Effendi, Sheikh Youssef, and the mayor are more real characters than fictional; the land added much to Arabic literature and many critics considered it the most prominent model of socialist realism. Here, "Al-Sharqawi" presented the Egyptian village for the first time away from the romantic view that depicted it as a lush paradise, to highlight what the countryside and its people suffered from contradictions of feudalism, occupation, and corruption, which brought them to the brink of a struggle for survival.
