The soldiers cry at night

Manuel decides after his return to the island to explore the past to recover details of the man he adopted's murder, as he tries to learn more about Khatha's wife, that mysterious man whom he met only briefly, but who left a significant impact inside him. So Khatha, the absent man, is the most present in the novel, and this presence will change the fate of the lives of its characters, including his wife, who left her previous life forever, and went on to rediscover herself after meeting him. Ana Maria Matute in her novel "The Soldiers Cry at Night" deliberately experiments with new narrative techniques based on mixing the voices of narrators so that the words of all characters appear in one way or another as a continuous dialogue. The shadows of the characters in this dense, highly sensitive, and delicate novel will continue to haunt the reader and motivate him to reread the book, which ended prematurely, leaving many unresolved questions.
