Sheikh of Hanbala Abu al-Wafa' bin Aqil did not enjoy in our contemporary studies a sufficient amount of digging into his ideas and exploration of his rhetorical and jurisprudential methods. His history of ideas and their changes has not been addressed as a "history of ideas"; to the extent that he should be considered the greatest author in Islamic history according to some sources; which is the book "Al-Funun". This study, whose Arabic version is issued by the Namaa Center, aims to shed light on the intellectual foundations of the scholar Ibn Aqil's thought, relying on the books "Al-Wadih" and "Al-Funun" and a number of other works that Mughdisi was able to obtain in manuscript or printed form. The author, through this research, sought to depict the scientific and social reality of Ibn Aqil's era, considering it as a miniature image of the Islamic world in Baghdad at that time, tracing the formation of his creed and tendencies amidst the conflicts of theologians and hadith scholars, then monitoring Ibn Aqil's impact in the fields of science and literature, and attempting to present a precise biography and narrative of his life and his era, which he called the era of "Classical Islam," in addition to extending his intellectual influence to the West. This study is the culmination of Mughdisi's diligent efforts to track everything related to Ibn Aqil al-Hanbali over many years of research, effort, academic studies, and exploration of the missing, manuscripts, and published works attributed to him. Therefore, the Namaa Center was keen to present it to the Arab reader.
