Worked on this work on a collection of Moroccan travel texts, Hijazi and Sufi, some printed and some manuscript. It included many researches and excavations that sought to exploit this rich mine and the knowledge container that is inexhaustible, relying on it as a source material and a fundamental document in building historical knowledge, based on direct field observation and viewing, as well as oral narration, in addition to the experience and personal expertise of the traveler. It is knowledge characterized by a high degree of credibility and realism, considering the traveler’s keenness to pursue accuracy in gathering information and documenting news, and to apply critical judgment in scrutinizing them before accepting their correctness. The book is divided into five chapters; it shed light on several issues: the phenomenon of scientific and spiritual interaction between Morocco and the East, images of some Arab and Islamic countries and communities, the history of architecture and urban development, representations of modernity and reform in Europe from the perspective of Moroccan travelers, and the critical dimension in the travel narrative.
