During the entire past decade, most of the poetry of the great Arab poet Suleiman Al-Essa remained unknown to many Arab readers, because he was writing and publishing his poems in Yemen, while accompanying his wife, Dr. Malika Abyad, who was a lecturer at Sana'a University. The poems the poet published after his collection "On the Road of Life," issued in 1996, he called "The Drunkenness," which came during a special period of the poet's journey, described by his wife as a time when the poet reconsidered what he was writing, in terms of themes, style, and tone. It was a period that formed a clear turning point in his career, during which disappointments accumulated and dreams shattered. Because what the poet wrote of poems during this period constitutes several volumes in total, the poet and his wife decided to present a selection of them to Arab readers, despite the difficulty of choosing. They named this selection "The Beautiful Journey," and entrusted the collection to Dar Jaddoul, which is pleased to present this collection to Arab readers and to all admirers of the great poet.
