One of the common sayings: Take wisdom from the mouths of madmen. And the reality is that some intelligent and genius people may enter the madhouse and stay there, and you cannot consider them sane, nor mad; they are between these two, good at discussion, capable of writing, composing, and researching. And from this group is a man in his seventies, who spent half his life in the madhouse, and was passionate about studying history. He turned to research the history of madness and madmen in Egypt, and he sought information and references while in the hospital, until he wrote a unique book on this subject, authored by himself, but it was not published in the form of a printed book. The author of the previous paragraph is Dr. Muhammad Kamel Al-Khouli, who spent more than forty years as a psychiatrist for mental and psychological patients, and he wrote his memories with them during those years, published in the magazine "Al-Masour" in serial episodes in 1954. As for the book, it is a historical, social, and psychological journey in those memoirs, undertaken by the author trying to explore the mysteries of time and the characters the doctor observed. It is worth mentioning that Muhammad Al-Shama'a is a journalist and researcher born in October 1979, he has published books "Days of Freedom," "The People Express Their Opinion on Everything That Happened," and "Stories from Salah Issa's Notebook." He works at "Akhbar Al-Youm" institution and writes for several Egyptian and Arab newspapers and websites. He is a documentary filmmaker, with experience in screenplay writing for the film "Severe Drop in Circulatory System," which reached the short list for the Saurous Award.
