Salafism. That attractive slogan for many and frightening for many, and that broad influential trend in our lives with a direct and vital impact. And many are the books and writings that addressed Salafism from different perspectives, whether through attack or defense, whether in its religious, intellectual, political, or social manifestations. Despite this material truth: Salafism still remains rich with much that can be subjected to research and analysis. Although Salafism is a recurring and ongoing phenomenon with a vital influence on our lived reality; it is truly strange that it has not received many serious analytical historical studies. The talk here is about the modern and contemporary Salafism phenomenon in particular, perhaps because older Islamic intellectual phenomena, including historical Salafism, have been given wider light in serious studies following different schools east and west, regardless of their objectivity or the accuracy of their outputs. Contemporary Salafism cast its shadows gradually and suddenly on the Islamic trend at the same time, coloring everything with its hue even if against it, making the research around it, with it, and against it take a frantic and accelerating form. Not much attention was paid to careful analysis and dismantling that explores the factors of its historical formation, except for a few fragments of writings, some of which were tainted with ideological bias or lacked tools and specialization. For this reason, we translated this book in front of you. The book "The Making of Salafism," which traces the process of forming Salafism in its contemporary version from approximately the 1920s up to the 1990s, focusing on the early period, the features of Salafism during that time, and its development until it reached the Salafism we know today.
