The book "Memory Restoration" by Khassan Madan... "Memory Restoration" is a poetic title, in craftsmanship and shaping, but it is literary writing that alludes to absurdity and futility, and to dispersal and fragmentation of the self / the impact. So, does the title form an entry point for reading the written? The book is the fabric of this shuttle movement between memories and facts, coming in the context of a long exile, extending for more than a quarter of a century, which is an involuntary forced exile, not an elective one. Because of the political circumstances that his country - Bahrain - went through — and in the midst of confession, "Hassan Madan" presents his life story through that exile, which chases its sons and ejects them outside. The word "Madan" from his homeland, young in early age, and he returned to it in his fifties, and between these two ages, he chose many cities to reside in, or in other words, the cities chose him to reside in. Thus, Madan's language came open to all possibilities and all expectations; it is a language that is not absolute, relative, accommodating all things, all interpretations, and all manifestations of sadness and forms of joy. Indeed, the writer himself, in the midst of recalling memory and his sharp sense of exile, poses a question to the reader of great importance, a question that does not escape any reader of this intimate biography: "Should things have gone the way they did? Could they not have been better?" He does not answer this question directly, but he employs another recall mechanism that dominates many areas of his memory retrieval, which is the invocation of other writings, films, or even events that happened to him. As if the writer declares himself as a reader of our years of exile, with its joys and sorrows, and this obsession manifests itself in many areas of memory restoration, saying: "... when we write about the past, we gather memories from these corridors and then reshape and reconfigure them. In a person's life, there comes a moment that we can call the moment of self-confrontation. A moment when feelings, experiences, ideas, and hopes that have not reached a focal point, shine with tension and questions, when one is completely alone with oneself. To face them with what must be faced from causes of confusion, anxiety, and questions."
