Product description
No ideological school of thought has known a quantitative and qualitative development together since its emergence until the death of its founder, like psychoanalysis. And starting from the texts of this seventh volume of Freud's almost complete works, the science of the unconscious experienced a new qualitative leap with the transition of its founder from individual psychoanalysis to group psychoanalysis, represented successively by "Totem and Taboo" (1913), then by "The Psychology of Crowds and the Analysis of the Ego," and finally by "Current Reflections on War and Death" (1915), inspired by World War I, which was until then the closest and most destructive war in human history. In these texts, Freud shifts, without interruption in connectivity, from analyzing types of individual neurosis to analyzing major social phenomena in human religions such as totemic and primitive archaic religions, and major modern collective institutions like the army and the church, and contemporary ideologies such as Nazism and Marxism, to finally studying the relationship between humans and death through the phenomenon of wars, which remain a constant companion for humanity from prehistoric times to the present despite all the progress described as civilized.
