The late Amin Said, in his book, reminds us of the travel literature left for us in our precious Islamic and Arab heritage, which was inherited from the ancestors of this nation. These writings are among the most valuable books in conveying true images of their observations. Where there was no physical photography like what we see today in the world of images we live in, their heritage resembled the world of images today in what they wrote, saw, and depicted in their writings. This prompted many medieval artists from Islamic societies to imagine the observations written by Muslim travelers, and they depicted them in color drawings based on their efforts to match the narrations of these travelers. These travel writings have always been and still are among the auxiliary sciences in the components of human sciences in our Islamic history, whether in the fields of history, sociology, religions, geography, environmental sciences, or other sciences.
